Lot 01: Buzz Aldrin Signed Print — $240
This signed print was donated by Aldrin and depicts him walking on
the moon. Aldrin and his crew mate Neil Armstrong were the first
men to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969 during Apollo 11.
Lot 02: Alan Bean Signed Print and Leather-bound Book — $400
This lot includes a limited edition Easton Press Alan Bean
Apollo: An Eyewitness Account leather-bound autographed book.
Also included, a signed framed print of Bean on the moon.
Lot 03: John Glenn Signed Print & Action Figure — $150
Mercury and Space Shuttle Astronaut, John Glenn, signed this Atlas
print while celebrating the 40th anniversary of his Mercury flight
at Kennedy Space Center in 2002. Also included, a Glenn Hot Wheels
collectible action figures set.
Lot 04: Moonshot Book & Alan Shepard Autograph — $220
Shepard and the late Deke Slayton, two of the original Mercury
astronauts, teamed up with two veteran space reporters Jay Barbree
and Howard Benedict to produce a book on the space program's
early days. Lot also includes a non-affixed book label signed by
Shepard, Barbree, Benedict and Deke's widow, Bobbie Slayton.
Lot 05: Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Flown Kapton Foil & Signed Photo — $300
This swatch of pressure-sensitive Kapton polyimide tape was removed
from the Command Module that flew on the first international space
mission, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, in 1975. Applied over the
surface of the CM, Kapton tape was used to protect the spacecraft
from the extreme temperatures of space. Also included, an ASTP
signed photo.
Lot 06: Buzz Aldrin Canceled Check — $120
Standard 2 3/4" x 6" bank draft signed by Gemini and Apollo astronaut
Buzz Aldrin of Apollo 11 fame. The check is dated 12-18-81 and
made out to Hertz Systems Inc. in the amount of $44.20 and signed
"Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr."
Lot 07: Deke Slayton Canceled Check — $140
Standard 2 3/4" x 6" bank draft signed by Mercury astronaut
Deke Slayton, veteran of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission.
It's dated Feb. 28, 1984 and signed "Donald K. Slayton."
Lot 08: Jim Irwin Canceled Check — $400
Standard 2 3/4" x 6" bank draft signed by Apollo astronaut Jim Irwin.
The check is made out to Col. Jim Irwin's local church in Colorado
Springs in the amount of $350, dated May 22, 1985 and signed "James
B. Irwin."
Lot 09: Apollo 13 Original Crew Signed Cover — $450
This cover was signed by the original crew of Apollo 13, Commander
James Lovell, Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise and Command Module
Pilot Ken Mattingly. These covers were signed by the crew at
Kennedy Space Center in April 1970 before Apollo 13's launch.
Lot 10: Apollo 15 Signed Insurance Cover — $1200
From the collection of Command Module Pilot, Col. Al Worden, this
cover was signed by Jim Irwin, Dave Scott and Worden shortly before
their Apollo 15 launch. This was one of a small quantity of covers
that were left behind as a form of "insurance" in the event they
failed to return from the Moon.
Lot 11: Apollo 16 Signed Insurance Cover — $700
From the collection of Lunar Module Pilot Charlie Duke, this cover
was signed by John Young, Ken Mattingly and Duke shortly before
their launch, as a form of "insurance" in the event they failed to
return from the Moon.
Lot 12: Skylab 2 Signed Beta Patch — $260
This Skylab 2 Beta Cloth was donated and signed by crewmembers Alan
Bean, Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma. The patch is silk-screened
onto the same cloth as the crews wore as the outermost layer of
their spacesuits.
Lot 13: Apollo 12 Flight Plan — $300
From the personal collection of NASA astronaut Paul Weitz, this
Apollo 12 Flight Plan was issued by the Flight Planning Branch
(a branch within the Flight Crew Support Division which was within
the Flight Operations Directorate) who were tasked with developing
the Flight Plan. They'd publish periodic versions as required.
This Plan is marked "Final."
Lot 14: Apollo 8 – Apollo 17 First Day Covers — $900
From the personal collection of NASA astronaut Paul Weitz, these
first day covers were sent to Weitz while he was in the astronaut
corps. Each is postmarked and labeled to him on significant dates
of each mission and signed by Weitz "from my personal collection."
A total of 11 covers in all.
Lot 15: Al Worden signed Art — $280
Apollo 15's Command Module Pilot Al Worden has adapted photography
taken during his mission into striking pieces of artwork including
this one of crewmate Jim Irwin on the moon. The mounted print is
signed by Col. Worden, measures 16" x 20" and is accompanied by a
signed COA.
Lot 16: Multi-signed moon/earth print — $2200
Before Columbia and her crew were lost during reentry on February
1, 2003, they captured this striking photograph of a quarter
moon hanging over the Earth's horizon. Twenty-seven astronauts
have signed, including: Joe Allen, Bill Anders, Vance Brand,
Dan Brandenstein, Scott Carpenter, Dick Covey, Bob Crippen,
Walt Cunningham, Charles Duke, Gordon Fullerton, Owen Garriott,
Ed Gibson, Robert "Hoot" Gibson, Richard Gordon, Fred Haise, Rick
Hauck, Rick Heib, Jack Lousma, James Lovell, Edgar Mitchell, Bill
Pogue, Wally Schirra, Dave Scott, Rhea Seddon, Rusty Schweickart,
Al Worden and John Young.
