ASF 2008 Omega Men's and Ladies' Speedmaster Watch Raffle

The Omega/Swatch Group once again generously donated two Speedmaster Professional watches, the first watch worn on the moon, to be raffled off during the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's May 2 Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Gala.

Men's Omega Speedmaster Professional Watch Women's Omega Speedmaster Automatic Watch

Apollo 15 Astronaut Al Worden and Space Shuttle Astronaut Dan Brandenstein joked together on stage before drawing the winner of the Men's Omega watch which was none other than astronaut Don Williams! Williams graciously donated the watch back to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) to be auctioned off on the spot. The live auction of the watch saw a bidding war with long time foundation supporter Mary Matulka winning the watch for her husband, Jerry, in celebration of his 50th birthday!

Next came the drawing for the women's professional Speedmaster diamond-studded watch with the winner being Mike Freeman of Global Safety Labs!

Thanks to Chuck Biggs and Kiwan Anderson of Omega for donating such beautiful watches and to ASF Board of Trustees Member Bobbie Slayton for securing the donation!

This endeavor realized more than $15,000 which will fund scholarships to the best and the brightest students pursuing degrees in science and technology.
