Apollo 17 40th Anniversary and Apollo Program Celebration Reception & Dinner
Join the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation on Saturday, November 3, 2012 for an incredible evening honoring the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 17 mission and the conclusion of the Apollo program with a special reception and dinner at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral. You'll be amazed by tales from true American heroes while surrounded by the stars of the space program.
On December 7, 1972, a Saturn V rocket carrying Gene Cernan, Jack Schmitt, and the late Ron Evans lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center en route to the Moon. Six days later, Cernan became the 12th and last man to set foot on the lunar surface. The Apollo 17 mission marked the conclusion of an exciting era in human history in which mankind proved that we could rise to the challenge and achieve the seemingly impossible.
Forty years later, Cernan and Schmitt, along with their astronaut peers, will reminisce about the mission and remember their late crewmember Evans during what will certainly be an unforgettable night. As an attendee of the anniversary dinner, you'll enjoy fine dining alongside more than 30 astronauts and listen as they share tales of their heroic accomplishments.
A VIP reception will precede the dinner where you will have one-on-one time with the astronauts as everyone relaxes with fine wine or a specialty drink.
Don't forget to commemorate the evening by purchasing a photo opportunity with the Apollo 17 astronauts in celebration of the flight's 40th anniversary!
Throughout the night, the unique items being offered in the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's 10th Annual Auction of Astronaut Experiences and Memorabilia will be on display and open for bidding. The auction concludes that evening at the dinner.
Apollo 17 40th Anniversary and Apollo Program Celebration Reception and Dinner tickets are included in most Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show ticket packages or may be purchased separately.
