Don’t let failure be an option! There’s still time to secure your autograph* from legendary Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise! The deadline for sending in personal items to be signed by Haise has passed. Fortunately, there’s still time to choose from one of nine exclusive prints to be personalized by Haise at our signing on August 1.
Photos may be purchased from the Astronaut Store for this Space Legend to autograph through Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit ASF’s mission of providing scholarships to exceptional college students pursuing degrees in science and technology.
Haise served as both a Marine Corps aviator and Air Force pilot before being selected to NASA’s fifth group of astronauts in 1966. He served as backup Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 8 and Apollo 11 before being named Lunar Module Pilot on the famed Apollo 13 mission that he flew with Jim Lovell and Jack Swigert. He went on to be named the back-up commander for Apollo 16 and would then serve in the Space Shuttle Program Office. In 1977, as the commander of one of two Approach and Landing Test Project (ALT) crews, he flew Space Shuttle Enterprise during the vehicle’s first, third and fifth/final flights at Edwards. Haise was inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1997, and is an active supporter of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.
Want even more Apollo 13? Gemini and Apollo astronaut James Lovell will also be joining us for a private signing on November 16. If you want to get items signed by both Lovell and Haise, ASF will hold your memorabilia in a safe and secure location until November. Lovell items will be accepted on their own closer to the actual event. For more details, visit the James Lovell Private Signing page.
