Richard Covey

Col Richard Covey, USAF (Ret), is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and holds a MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University. During two tours in Southeast Asia, he flew 339 combat missions in the A-37B and A-7D. A graduate of USAF Test Pilot School, he flew weapons test flights in the F-4 and A-7D, and was a test force director for pre-production flight test of the F-15 integrated electronic warfare systems.

In 1978, Covey was selected by NASA as a pilot astronaut and subsequently flew four space shuttle missions. After retirement from the USAF and NASA in 1994, Covey served as an aerospace executive with Unisys, McDonnell Douglas and The Boeing Company. He retired from Boeing in 2010 after serving as the President and CEO of United Space Alliance, the Boeing/Lockheed Martin joint venture that operated the space shuttle for NASA.

Since 2004, Covey has served on the Board of Directors of RE/MAX Holdings, LLC, the Denver-based real estate franchisor, as Lead Director, and as Chair of the Compensation Committee. He has been a Trustee of the Falcon Foundation since 2011. He is a National Association of Corporate Directors Board Leadership Fellow.

Covey and his wife, Kathy, live in Colorado Springs, CO, and Scottsdale, AZ.
