Many thanks to Fred and Laura (Shepard) Churchley for hosting an ASF Meet & Greet inside their beautiful home just outside of Denver, Colorado. The evening – filled with incredible vistas, terrific food, and great conversation – resulted in many new friends and supporters of the mission. Astronaut Scholar Christina Hammock Completes Training

Congratulations to Astronaut Scholar Christina Hammock who has completed two years of intensive training and now moves from being an astronaut candidate into the astronaut corps! She was chosen as an astronaut candidate by NASA in 2013 from 6,300 applications, the second largest group of applications ever received by NASA. Read NASA’s latest news release!

2015 U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Recap


2015 marked the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame (AHOF). This year’s induction celebrations took place on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. Space legends from the past 50 years united to celebrate the newest inductees and their contributions to manned space exploration. Four Space Shuttle astronauts entered into this prestigious group: John Grunsfeld, Steve Lindsey, Kent Rominger, and Rhea Seddon. Astronaut Scholars hail from a large variety of STEM disciplines, and there’s no greater opportunity to see how they’ve put their knowledge to use than the Foundation’s yearly Scholar Technical Conference. On May 30, ASF hosted its 2015 Scholar Technical Conference in the breezeway at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. ASF Celebrates Apollo 13’s 45th Anniversary

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC) was the site of a recent celebration of the space program’s greatest heroes. On Saturday, April 11, 2015, supporters of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) gathered in the company of the astronauts, flight directors, and support crew who ensured the safe return of the Apollo 13 crew. Presented by AirScan, Inc. and Embraer, the gala took place under the Saturn V rocket suspended in KSCVC’s remarkable Apollo/Saturn V Center.
