Four Astronauts to Enter Hall of Fame

The time has come once again for a new class of astronauts to be inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame (AHOF). Each year, ASF’s Induction Selection Committee oversees the selection of inductees into AHOF, and ASF works hand-in-hand with Delaware North Companies (DNC) to honor those astronauts with an official induction ceremony held at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC). October Meet and Greet Photos Now Online

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation held a meet-and-greet reception on October 25, 2014 in order to promote the Foundation’s important mission. Participants included Captain Bob “Crip” Crippen and his wife Pandora, Lt. Col. Andy Allen and his wife Brenda, Patty Carpenter, wife of the late Mercury Astronaut Scott Carpenter, and several Astronaut Scholars. Thank you all who attended – together, we are strengthening America’s innovative competitiveness by investing in our nation’s brightest science and engineering scholars. Vice Chairman Lisa Schott Gifts ASF Holiday Donation

2015 Induction Gala Date Change

December 10, 2014 – Due to circumstances beyond our control, the date for the 2015 U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction festivities has moved to May 29-30, 2015. ASF’s annual Induction Gala will take place on the night of Friday, May 29, and KSCVC’s Induction ceremony will occur on Saturday the 30th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Further details on the weekend’s events will be posted to our Induction page as they become available.

Save the Date for the Apollo 13 45th Anniversary Celebration!

December 8, 2014 – ASF is pleased to announce the 45th Anniversary Celebration of Apollo 13! The event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Join James Lovell, Fred Haise, and their fellow astronauts to honor and celebrate one of the U.S. space program’s most famous missions. Hugh Harris Announces New Book

January 28, 2014 – Hugh Harris, NASA’s “Voice of Launch Control” and a longtime ASF supporter, announces the release of his new book, “Challenger: An American Tragedy,” a personal account of the events of January 28, 1986. Harris was at Kennedy Space Center that day, counting down to liftoff for audiences across the country. He presents the story of the Challenger tragedy as only an insider can.
