Apollo 11 Launch Flashback Event Presented by CBS

Apollo 11 Launch Flashback Event Presented by CBS

Relive the historic launch of Apollo 11 at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex! On July 16, 1969 at 9:32 AM, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins launched aboard a Saturn V rocket toward the Moon. On July 16, 2019, exactly 50 yeas later, the Apollo 11 Launch Flashback Event Presented by CBS will take you through the launch sequence in real time through archival CBS television footage.

Guests will board buses from the main visitor complex to the Apollo/Saturn V Center. There, spend time in the new Moon Tree Garden learning about the 12 missions that took humans to the Moon. Then, visit the Banana Creek Launch Viewing Area and see LC-39A, the very launch pad that sent all humans to the Moon. Enjoy a catered breakfast and take a look at some vintage cars from the 1960s, including Armstrong’s actual blue Corvette and a red Corvette signed by 45 astronauts including Armstrong. As the historic launch time approaches, take your seat in the bleachers to welcome our special guests! Emmy award-winning journalist Mark Strassman will join Apollo 16 astronaut Charlie Duke and others to celebrate the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary during the event. Strassman will serve as master of ceremonies as CBS re-airs its historic coverage of the mission launch in real time exactly 50 years later. Duke also served as the CAPCOM spacecraft communicator for the Moon landing of Apollo 11.

The event includes celebratory gifts for you to take home: a throwback Pepsi® hand fan to keep cool, Apollo 11 commemorative trading cards, a 50th anniversary booklet, exclusive Moon Pie product, an Apollo lanyard and badge and a collectible pin specific to this flashback launch event.

After the launch*, explore the newly transformed Apollo/Saturn V Center before taking a bus back to the visitor complex to continue your day. A map of the new exhibits can be found in the commemorative booklet provided.

This flashback celebration is a separately ticketed event. The ticket price includes the above and admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
